The City of Royal Oak has a beautiful community center where older adults aged 50 and better can enjoy opportunities for lifelong education, fitness, nutrition and leisure activities. In addition, supportive services that promote independence and quality of life are available for residents who are 60 and over or permanently disabled.

  • Support and assistance - Aphasia group, grief support, P.A.L., Legal Consultations, A.G.E., R.O.S.E.S. program and more
  • Fitness - Tai Chi, Chair Exercise, Gentle Yoga and more
  • Hobbies - Mini Makers, Creative Coloring, Sewing, Knitting/Crocheting and more
  • Games - Mah Jongg, Rubber Bridge, Pinochle and more
  • Informative - Lunch and Learns
  • Daily weekday meals are available through Tim's Kitchen
  • Transportation for Seniors or Adults with Permanent Disabilities is available
  • Room rental is available for your special events

The Jack and Patti Salter Community Center, located at 1545 E Lincoln Avenue, also offers enjoyable classes for mature adults. A list of activities at this center can be found in Insight Magazine, a quarterly newsletter that is delivered to every address in Royal Oak. The Salter Center is open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
