2020 Construction Projects


Use the map above to see if a project is affecting your street. The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. CAP1909 MDOT 14 Mile Road Resurfacing

Contractor: Florence Cement Company


Greenfield to Woodward: One lane is open in each direction on the outside lanes of the roadway for Phase III of construction.

Woodward to Crooks: The south half of 14 Mile Road is currently closed for Phase III of construction with traffic shifted to the north side of the roadway. One travel lane is open in each direction.


The contractor is now on the final stage of the project, Phase III. This week the contractor will be placing the top layer of pavement on the south half of the roadway and begin construction of the pedestrian crossing island at Coolidge Highway east of the rail road.

CAP2003 Downtown Streetscape & Street Lighting Improvements

Contractor: Audia Construction, Inc.


This week the contractor is working at the following locations, removing paver stones and pouring stamped, colored concrete:

  • Main Street, north of Lincoln, east side
  • Fifth Street, between Main and the rail road
  • Center Street, between Second and Fifth, west side
  • Second Street, between Center and the alley east of Main, north side
  • Washington, north of Lincoln, west side
The contractor is continuing installation work on the street lighting along Fourth Street between Main Street and Washington Avenue.

CAP2010 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting, Inc.


The city's contractor has been authorized to use the northeast section of VFW Park for construction staging and material storage. The area will be fenced off for public safety. Vehicles will enter/exit using Campbell Road and Sixth Street. Once the project is complete, the disturbed areas will be re-graded and restored with topsoil and seed. The contractor will also make some park improvements by planting new trees and installing new picnic tables.

Fifth Street, Seventh Street, S. Rembrandt, S. Altadena - This week the contractor will mill the roadways and adjust drainage structures. The first layer of new asphalt has been tentatively scheduled for Sept. 28th, weather permitting.

S. Vermont Avenue - This week the contractor will be working on concrete replacement of pavement areas and sidewalk ramps. The contractor will also mill the roadway and adjust drainage structures. The first layer of new asphalt has been tentatively scheduled for Sept. 28th, weather permitting.

Helene Avenue - The contractor is continuing restoration work this week.

Longfellow Avenue - The contractor will be reconstructing both sides of the roadway at the same time, to reduce the length of time for construction and the amount of time residents cannot use their driveways. Residents will receive a driveway access notice via door hanger before paving begins and will not be able to park in their driveways or on the street for approximately three weeks to allow for the removal, grading, concrete pouring and cure time of the new roadway.

11 Mile Road - The final water main connection is scheduled for this week. Any affected residents or businesses will be notified via door hanger with the date of the water shut-off and duration. Once complete, pavement restoration will begin.

Farnum Avenue - Work is tentatively scheduled to begin the end of September/beginning of October. The new water main will be installed via directional drilling and there will be intersection closures at the following locations to allow for water main installation:

  • E. Farnum Avenue & N. Dorchester Avenue intersection
  • E. Farnum Avenue &  N. Kenwood Avenue intersection
Residents on Dorchester Avenue will still be able to enter/exit their block via Forest Avenue to the north and residents of Kenwood Avenue will be able to enter/exit via University Avenue or 11 Mile Road to the south.

Paving on all the project streets is now complete. This week the contractor will be continuing work on back-filling, grading and landscape restoration.

Traffic Signal Improvements

13 Mile Road - The contractor is continuing work this week at the Crooks Road intersection. There will be single lane closures as needed to allow for construction operations.
