2020 Construction Projects

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. CAP1909 MDOT 14 Mile Road ResurfacingContractor: Florence Cement Company The contractor has completed the resurfacing of 14 Mile Road and all lanes are now open to traffic. This week the contractor will be finishing up restoration along the north side of the roadway.

CAP2003 Downtown Streetscape & Street Lighting ImprovementsContractor: Audia Construction, Inc. This week the contractor is working at the following locations, removing paver stones and pouring stamped, colored concrete:
- Third Street, between Main and Center, south side
- Fourth Street, between Lafayette and West, north side
- Lafayette Avenue, between Sixth and Fifth, west side
- Lafayette Avenue, between Sixth and Sherman, east side
- Fifth Street, between West and Washington
- Main Street, between Fifth and Sixth, west side
- Sherman Drive, between Lafayette and Washington
The contractor will also be working on the street lights on Fourth Street, between Main and Washington.

CAP2010 Water Main ImprovementsContractor: FDM Contracting, Inc. The city's contractor has been authorized to use the northeast section of VFW Park for construction staging and material storage. The area will be fenced off for public safety. Vehicles will enter/exit using Campbell Road and Sixth Street. Once the project is complete, the disturbed areas will be re-graded and restored with topsoil and seed. The contractor will also make some park improvements by planting new trees and installing new picnic tables.
Fifth Street, S. Rembrandt, S. Altadena, S. Vermont - This week the contractor will be working on restoration before the final layer of pavement is placed.
Seventh Street - The contractor will be finishing up landscape restoration this week.
Helene Avenue - The contractor is finishing up restoration work this week.
Longfellow Avenue - The contractor has poured the new concrete curbing and driveway approaches. This week they will be preparing the roadway for new pavement. Garbage will be picked up on its regular scheduled day, please have receptacles out by 7:00 a.m.
11 Mile Road - The contractor has closed Kenwood Avenue at 11 Mile Road to pour new concrete pavement at the intersection. The contractor will re-open to traffic once the concrete has cured.
Farnum Avenue - The contractor has completed the water main installation, and the new water main is undergoing testing this week.
Forest Avenue - Water main installation will begin this week. The intersection of Forest Avenue & Symes Avenue will be closed to allow for equipment and operations. Residents can still access their streets from the other end of the block. The intersection will be re-opened as soon as water main installation is complete.

CAP2015 Asphalt Resurfacing ImprovementsContractor: AJAX Paving Industries This week the contractor will be finishing work on landscape restoration, sprinkler repairs and punch-list items.

CAP2035 Road Reconstruction ImprovementsContractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc This week the contractor will work on landscape restoration and punch-list items, weather permitting.

CAP1941 11 Mile Road and 13 Mile Road Traffic Signal ImprovementsContractor: Dan's ExcavatingThe contractor has almost completed foundation work and crews are placing the new poles at the various intersections along the 11 Mile Road and 13 Mile Road corridors. Once complete, they will begin installing the mast arms and control cabinets, then install wiring and the new traffic signal lights.
There will be intermittent single lane closures as needed for equipment operations and crew safety.
