Construction Project Updates


Residents on affected streets were mailed construction notices in the Spring with detailed information on the project.

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. If you have questions you can contact the Engineering Division at 248.246.3260.

CAP1908/09 14 Mile Road Resurfacing Improvements

Greenfield Road to Crooks Road

City Contractor: Pamar Enterprises, Inc


The city's contractor will be working on restoration along 14 Mile Road and Upton Park.

CAP1935 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.


The week of August 5th, the contractor will continue excavation on the east side of Benjamin Avenue between Starr Road and 13 Mile Road for the installation of a new sewer main. The westerly lane will remain open to traffic to provide access for residents.

The contractor also plans to work on Massoit Road, pouring new driveway approaches and on W. Houstonia Avenue, replacing concrete on the south side of the roadway.

Minimal work will be performed on the other project streets the week of August 5th.

CAP1905 Concrete Pavement Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Inc.


The contractor plans to continue pavement work on the other halves of the project streets south of 14 Mile Road and north of Normandy Road the week of August 5th. The contractor will also work on the first halves of the project streets north of 14 Mile Road.

If driveway access will be affected, residents will receive a notice via door hanger the day beforehand. The contractor will only work on one side of the street at a time, to maintain access for residents.

CAP1915 Asphalt Resurfacing

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries Inc


Restoration work will start on the project streets in the coming weeks. The restoration contractor will be picking up debris and wood chips, grading disturbed lawn areas and restoring with topsoil and seed.

The week of August 5th, the contractor plans to place a rejuvenating agent on the new asphalt in the beginning of the week to help extend the life of the pavement. Notices will be given to residents beforehand and "No Parking" signs will be put up in advance for this 1-2 day operation.

CAP1910 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.


The week of August 5th, the contractor plans to continue connecting water services to the new water main on Normandy Road.

They will also begin clean up work on the project streets in preparation for Dream Cruise weekend.

Work on S. Blair and E. Harrison will begin once the other project streets are completed (except for lawn restoration).

CAP1907 Normandy Road Improvements

Greenfield Road to Woodward Avenue
Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries


The city will be resurfacing Normandy Road from Greenfield Road to Woodward Avenue this fall. The city opted to add this project for 2019 due to the availability of funding for major road improvements.

Work is scheduled to begin in late August, after the Dream Cruise.

The constructions operations will close Normandy Road to thru traffic. Residents with driveways on Normandy Road will be allowed access from their nearest side street, all other traffic will be prohibited.
