2020 Construction Projects


Use the map above to see if a project is affecting your street. The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. If you have questions you can contact the Engineering Division at 248.246.3260.

CAP1909 MDOT 14 Mile Road Resurfacing

Contractor: Florence Cement Company


The north half of 14 Mile Road is currently closed for the second phase of construction with traffic shifted to the south side of the roadway. One travel lane is open in each direction. Left turns are prohibited at several side streets along the corridor.


The contractor will be paving the top layer of asphalt this week and then switching traffic to Phase III, the final stage of the project.

CAP2003 Downtown Streetscape & Street Lighting Improvements

Contractor: Audia Construction, Inc.


The contractor will be on Main Street, south of Lincoln Avenue this week, working on the sidewalks. They will be removing paver stones and pouring stamped, colored concrete.

CAP2005 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Italia Construction, Inc.


The contractor will be going south to north on the various project streets, working on several streets at once. They will be working on one side of the street at a time to maintain access throughout construction. Signs stating 'No Parking 7am - 8pm' will be placed by the contractor as necessary.

The week of August 24th, the contractor will be performing restoration work. Most of pavement work is complete on the project streets.

CAP2010 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting, Inc.


The city's contractor has been authorized to use the northeast section of VFW Park for construction staging and material storage. The area will be fenced off for public safety. Vehicles will enter/exit using Campbell Road and Sixth Street. Once the project is complete, the disturbed areas will be re-graded and restored with topsoil and seed. The contractor will also make some park improvements by planting new trees and installing new picnic tables.

Fifth Street - The week of August 24th, the contractor will be pouring concrete sidewalks and ramps and waiting on cure time.

S. Rembrandt Avenue - The contractor will be pouring new concrete roadway patches, sidewalks and ramps, and some sections of the adjacent alley.

Seventh Street - This week the contractor will be pouring new concrete driveway approaches, sidewalks and ramps and waiting on cure time.

S. Altadena Avenue - This week the contractor will continue replacing curbing, driveway approaches, sidewalks and ramps on the west side of the roadway.

S. Vermont Avenue - The contractor will finish transferring individual water services to the new main this week and addressing lead or galvanized services. Once complete they will begin the road work.

Helene Avenue - The contractor will continue replacing concrete sidewalks and ramps this week.

Longfellow Avenue - The contractor will begin transferring water services to the new main this week and addressing private water services that are lead or galvanized.

Farnum Avenue & 11 Mile Road - Work is tentatively scheduled to begin within two weeks.

CAP2015 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries


Phase 1 & 2 Streets – The contractor will be working on restoration and punch list items.

Phase 3 Streets –  The week of August 24th, the contractor will be milling the existing surface of the roadways. The first layer of asphalt is tentatively scheduled to be placed beginning on Wednesday this week. Once complete the contractor will begin adjusting structures for the final height of the roadways.

CAP2035 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc


Knowles Street - The week of August 24th, the contractor plans to complete the remaining sidewalk and concrete work.

Chester Road, Hillside Drive, Massoit Road & Lenox Avenue  - The contractor plans to joint-seal the new roadways this week. This is a one day operation and will create a fair amount of dust as they clean out the joints for sealing. Residents are advised to keep their windows closed during this time.

Crane Avenue - The contractor will be forming and pouring the new concrete curbing this week.

CAP1941 11 Mile Road and 13 Mile Road
Traffic Signal Improvements

Contractor: Dan's Excavating


13 Mile Road - The contractor is doing foundation work this week at the Rochester Road & Main Street intersections. There will be single lane closures at these intersections to allow for construction operations.

Please note that construction schedules are tentative, and may change based on weather delays, subcontractors or substantial field modifications. These updates are based on the information currently available.
