2020 Construction Projects


Use the map above to see if a project is affecting your street. The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. CAP1909 MDOT 14 Mile Road Resurfacing

Contractor: Florence Cement Company


Greenfield to Woodward: One lane is open in each direction on the outside lanes of the roadway for the third phase of construction.

Woodward to Crooks: The north half of 14 Mile Road is currently closed for the second phase of construction with traffic shifted to the south side of the roadway. One travel lane is open in each direction. Left turns are prohibited at several side streets along the corridor.


Due to inclement weather last week, the contractor will finish paving the top layer of asphalt this week and then switch traffic to Phase III, the final stage of the project. The contractor will be constructing a pedestrian crossing island at the 14 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway intersection, east of the railroad.

CAP2003 Downtown Streetscape & Street Lighting Improvements

Contractor: Audia Construction, Inc.


This week the contractor is working at the following locations, removing paver stones and pouring stamped, colored concrete:

  • Main Street, north of Tiffany, west side
  • Washington Avenue, south of Lincoln, east side
  • Kenilworth Avenue, between Main and Washington, south side

CAP2005 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Italia Construction, Inc.


The contractor will be going south to north on the various project streets, working on several streets at once. They will be working on one side of the street at a time to maintain access throughout construction. Signs stating 'No Parking 7am - 8pm' will be placed by the contractor as necessary.

The week of August 31st, the contractor will be performing restoration work. Most of the pavement work is complete on the project streets.

CAP2010 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting, Inc.


The city's contractor has been authorized to use the northeast section of VFW Park for construction staging and material storage. The area will be fenced off for public safety. Vehicles will enter/exit using Campbell Road and Sixth Street. Once the project is complete, the disturbed areas will be re-graded and restored with topsoil and seed. The contractor will also make some park improvements by planting new trees and installing new picnic tables.

Fifth Street - The week of August 31st, the contractor will be replacing the roadway at the Irving intersection. This area will be closed to thru traffic approximately 2-3 weeks.

S. Rembrandt Avenue - The contractor will finish pouring new concrete roadway patches, sidewalks and ramps, and some sections of the adjacent alley and allowing for concrete cure time.

Seventh Street - This week the newly poured concrete driveway approaches, sidewalks and ramps are curing, and will be re-opened to traffic once strengthened.

S. Altadena Avenue - This week the contractor will continue replacing curbing, driveway approaches, sidewalks and ramps on the west side of the roadway and allowing for concrete cure time.

S. Vermont Avenue - This week the contractor will finish addressing lead or galvanized services, and then schedule the two final water main connections. Any residents affected will receive a door hanger in advance with the date, time and duration of the shut-off.

Helene Avenue - The newly poured concrete is curing this week. Once strengthened the contractor will re-open to traffic and begin clean-up and restoration work.

Longfellow Avenue - The contractor will continue transferring water services to the new main this week and addressing private water services that are lead or galvanized.

Farnum Avenue - Work is tentatively scheduled to begin after Labor Day. The new water main will be installed via directional drilling and there will be intersection closures at the following locations to allow for water main installation:

  • E. Farnum Avenue & N. Dorchester Avenue intersection
  • E. Farnum Avenue &  N. Kenwood Avenue intersection
Residents on Dorchester Avenue will still be able to enter/exit their block via Forest Avenue to the north and residents of Kenwood Avenue will be able to enter/exit via University Avenue or 11 Mile Road to the south.


11 Mile Road - Work is tentatively scheduled to begin after Labor Day. Work will be performed on the north side of the roadway between Dorchester and Kenwood.

CAP2015 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries


Phase 1 & 2 Streets – The contractor is continuing work on restoration and punch list items.

Phase 3 Streets –  The week of August 31st, the contractor will finish the base layer of paving on the project streets. Then structures will be adjusted for the final height of the roadway. The top layer of pavement is tentatively scheduled for the Tuesday following the holiday weekend.

CAP2035 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc


Knowles Street - The week of August 31st, the contractor plans to complete the remaining sidewalk and concrete work.

Chester Road, Hillside Drive, Massoit Road & Lenox Avenue  - The contractor will be working on clean up and landscape restoration this week.

Crane Avenue - The contractor will be pouring the new concrete curbing this week.

Delaware Avenue - The contractor will be installing new trees on the block this week.

Traffic Signal Improvements

Contractor: Dan's Excavating


13 Mile Road - The contractor is continuing foundation work this week at the Main Street intersection. There will be single lane closures as needed to allow for construction operations.
