Learn what’s happening this fall in Royal Oak — from leaf pickup and tree planting to the final weeks of yard waste collection. Kevin Yee, Director of the Department of Public Services, will be on hand to rake through your questions!

Bonus! At this event, we’ll be giving away coneflower and black-eyed Susan seeds — straight from our parks to your backyard.

Back-in Parkin Returns

Downtown Royal Oak’s Washington Ave. Returns to Pull-in Parking

The City of Royal Oak has announced that the back-in, angled parking spaces on Washington Ave. between 4th St. and Lincoln Ave. will be replaced with traditional pull-in spaces.

The work of repainting the parking lines is set to begin on Monday, Oct. 6. It will be performed by PK Contracting of Troy.

Now Accepting Applications!

Now Accepting Applications! The 2025 Royal Oak Citizens Police Academy kicks off Nov. 12!

The Royal Oak Citizens Police Academy is an exciting seven-week course that meets once a week on Wednesday evenings at the police station at 6:30 p.m. Classes last for approximately three hours.

Open only to residents of Royal Oak, attendees get an insider's look at the internal operations and challenges of the police department.

You must be 18 years of age or older to attend the academy. All potential applicants are screened before they are accepted. You will be notified no later than Nov. 8, if you have been admitted.

Pick Up the 2025 Park Passport
