What Drivers Should Know About Bike Lanes Here are three things drivers should know about bike lanes:
1. Only people riding bicycles may travel in a bike lane. 2. Where bike lane lines are dashed, drivers may cross over the bike lane. 3. Green paint indicates a potential point of conflict between auto and bicycle traffic. Drivers must yield to bicyclists until they have cleared this zone.

Rain Gardens: What & Why? Please join us to learn about residential rain gardens and Royal Oak's new rain garden program Sunday Sept 30 at 2:00p.m. at the public library. The Clinton River Watershed Council presentation will cover the basics of rain gardens as a storm water management technique. Tips on placement, sizing, plant choices, lessons learned, and success stories will be shared. The second part of the event is a tour featuring the newly installed Fourth Street rain gardens between Blair and Connecticut. Royal Oak residential rain garden installation manuals will be available for anyone interested in creating their own rain garden.

Vets For Pets October 11!Get your tickets now for the Royal Oak Animal Shelter's Vets For Pets. Wed Oct 11 at Farina's Banquet Center (2485 Coolidge Hwy in Berkley). Live music, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, appetizers, desserts and cash bar.

What Should Be in the Downtown Park?Help landscape architects and planners develop the look, feel and programming of a future downtown park for the City of Royal Oak.
We're looking for residents to participate in a visual preference survey workshop. The survey will consist of a series of park images that participants must score according to their preference using a clicker. Your input will be used to make decisions about the future built environment and programming of the downtown park.
There will be four sessions on Oct 6; 10 am, noon, 2 pm and 4 pm.
