Construction Project Updates

Residents on affected streets will be mailed construction notices in the Spring, prior to work beginning, with detailed information on the project.

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. If you have questions you can contact the Engineering Division at 248.246.3260.

CAP1908/09 14 Mile Road Resurfacing Improvements

Greenfield Road to Crooks Road

SOCWA Contractor: Verdeterre Contracting, Inc.

City Contractor: Pamar Enterprises, Inc

This project includes work in conjunction with the South Oakland County Water Authority, Michigan Department of Transportation and the Road Commission for Oakland County.

14 Mile Road will be under construction for most of the 2019 construction season, with traffic often limited to one lane in each direction. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes during construction, especially during rush hour. For more information regarding the complete scope of the project, visit: www.romi.gov/14Mile

The week of May 13th, SOCWA's contractor will continue working on site and pavement restoration.

The city's contractor will be connecting the new water main on 14 Mile at Woodward Avenue. A water shut-off is scheduled for Monday the 13th from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Crews are working late to minimize the inconvenience to the restaurants and businesses who are affected by the shut off. All affected property owners and businesses have been notified.

There will also be a traffic shift, the largest impact being to northbound Coolidge Highway travelers. Only one lane will be open for NB Coolidge Highway leading up to 14 Mile Road. Drivers should seek an alternate route. See the diagram below for details.

CAP1935 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.

The city's contractor will begin transferring water services to the new water main on Massoit Road the week of May 13th. On W. Houstonia, the new water main is installed and testing will occur throughout the week. The contractor also plans to continue pavement removals on Fernlee Avenue, and begin preparing the roadway for new pavement.

CAP1905 Concrete Pavement Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Inc.

The contractor plans to continue saw-cutting the week of May 13th on the project streets. Pavement removals are tentatively scheduled to begin towards the end of May.

CAP1915 Asphalt Resurfacing

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries Inc

The contractor plans to begin some utility work on Josephine Avenue and Hendrie Blvd the week of May 13th. The contractor also plans to begin curb work later in the week, weather permitting, on the Phase 1 streets.

CAP1910 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.

Pavement removals will continue on Albert Avenue the week of May 13th. Water shut-offs are scheduled on Rockingham Road and Judson Avenue for Monday to connect the new water main. Affected property owners have been notified.

CAP1806 S. Campbell Road Resurfacing

10 Mile Road to 11 Mile Road

Contractor: Iafrate Construction Company

The week of May 13th, the contractor plans to begin lawn restoration along S. Campbell Road.
