Construction Project Updates


Residents on affected streets were mailed construction notices in the Spring with detailed information on the project.

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. If you have questions you can contact the Engineering Division at 248.246.3260.

CAP1908/09 14 Mile Road Resurfacing Improvements

Greenfield Road to Crooks Road

The city's contractor will be performing remaining clean up work in preparation of Dream Cruise weekend.

CAP1935 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.


The week of August 12th, the contractor will continue excavations on Benjamin Avenue between Starr Road and 13 Mile Road for the installation of new sewer mains.

The southeast side driveway aprons have been poured on Massoit Road and will be re-opened for residents on Saturday once the concrete has fully cured.

Work on the south side of W. Houstonia Avenue will begin after Dream Cruise weekend.

The week of August 12th the contractor plans to perform clean up work in preparation for Dream Cruise weekend.

CAP1915 Asphalt Resurfacing

Restoration work is scheduled to begin the week of August 12th. The contractor also plans to install asphalt wedges on driveway aprons that still have a small height differential from the new roadway.

The week of August 12th the contractor plans to focus on cleaning up the project streets in preparation for Dream Cruise weekend.

The contractor also plans to replace sidewalks on Albert Avenue.

CAP1907 Normandy Road Improvements

Greenfield Road to Woodward Avenue
Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries


The city will be resurfacing Normandy Road from Greenfield Road to Woodward Avenue this fall. The city opted to add this project for 2019 due to the availability of funding for major road improvements.

Work is scheduled to begin in late August, after the Dream Cruise.

The constructions operations will close Normandy Road to thru traffic. Residents with driveways on Normandy Road will be allowed access from their nearest side street, all other traffic will be prohibited.

Reminder: Segment 3 of the I-75 modernization project in Oakland County begins Sunday, Aug. 11

Starting at 3 p.m. Aug. 11, the right lane of southbound I-75 will be closed from 13 Mile to 8 Mile roads in order for crews to widen the shoulder for an eventual traffic shift. In addition to the single-lane closure, crews will close the following ramps:
  • Westbound I-696 ramp to southbound I-75,
  • Southbound I-75 exit to 8 Mile Road,
  • Southbound I-75 exit to 9 Mile Road,
  • 9 Mile Road entrance ramp to southbound I-75

MDOT closing Maple Road under I-75 this weekend for bridge demolition in Oakland County

MDOT contracting crews will be closing both directions of Maple Road under I-75 for bridge demolition starting at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. The closure is needed for demolishing the northbound I-75 freeway bridge over Maple Road.
Please note that construction schedules are tentative, and may change based on weather delays, subcontractors or substantial field modifications. These updates are based on the information currently available.
