Royal Oak Food Waste Reduction Pilot

Starting on February 24th, Royal Oak Sustainability will offer free composting drop-offs at the Royal Oak Farmers Market from 8 AM until Noon. This is a three-month trial to gain insight and interest on how best to serve Royal Oak residents, businesses, and organizations. We will also be partnering with local businesses and organizations to offer educational resources, workshops, and participation in curbside options. February’s Happy Hour is all about food waste reduction. Chef Johnny of Alchemi will be giving a tour and highlighting their waste reduction journey. Local food waste reduction businesses and organizations will be present to launch Royal Oak’s food reduction pilot and assist your home or business in reducing food waste.

Interested in Volunteering?

We are looking for a few volunteers who want to help with the Food Waste Reduction Pilot on Saturday mornings at the farmers market. Please email sustainability@romi.gov to learn more.
