Regular Meetings

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets on the 1st Thursday of each month, September-May, and June-August as required. View the meeting planned meeting schedule here. Note: meeting dates/times are subject to change due to holidays, weather, or other reasons.

Mission

Per Chapter 142 of the City Code, the Board shall serve in an advisory capacity to the City Manager and City Commission in all matters: 

  • affecting City parks and grounds
  • regarding the administration of the recreation program of the City
  • regarding the administration of leased recreational facilities of the City
  • concerning the operations of the Royal Oak Farmers Market.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Bylaws

Membership

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is composed of nine members appointed by the City Commission, which includes one member of the City Commission. Members are appointed for a term of three years or until a successor is appointed.  Terms are staggered such that three members' terms will expire on December 31 of each year.
